VICTORIA LATCHEM D.O.
I studied at the British School of Osteopathy in London, qualifying in 1986. I made a permanent return to Devon in 1992 and have happily worked in the South Hams ever since. Bidwell Cottage was extended in 2000, to give Bidwell Practice a permanent home.
I was introduced to Osteopathy as a 14 year old, following a ‘gone wrong learning to ski on a dry slope’ moment. My mum took me to see an Osteopath, and good friend of hers, and it was as simple as that! I wanted to be an Osteopath from that moment…. I thank Mum’s friend for her boundless encouragement and enthusiasm, in the run up to going, and throughout my time at college.
I love the range of treatment approaches that Osteopathy offers. I have a particular interest in working with longer standing, more complex presentations, and supporting the extraordinary inter-linked relationships of our emotions, mind and body.
I strongly believe that the Osteopathic philosophy is a truly holistic approach, and I marvel at its potential to help promote better health; having something to offer to so many different presenting situations.
When I can, I enjoy supporting expectant mothers through their pregnancy, welcoming the newborns, and treating the whole family from then on, and I am continuing to pursue my interest in all aspects of the performing voice, and its’ management. One day I hope to transfer all those stickperson exercise creations into a pamphlet. Thank you all, for your encouragement!
Time away from Bidwell is spent outside in nature as much as possible, I love both coastal and moorland adventuring, with family and friends. I am increasingly loving being out in the garden, acquiring greener fingers (hopefully).
I feel very fortunate to love what I do, and even more fortunate to be able to do what I do, surrounded by incredible landscape.
