 MEET THE TEAM

Here at Bidwell, we are all passionate and committed to providing first class treatment for our patients. All of our Osteopath’s have completed a minimum of 4 years of full time study, and are all fully accredited members of, affiliated to, and regulated by the General Osteopathic Council.

We all attend regular continual professional development courses and seminars to further ensure our osteopathic skills, knowledge and continued professional development practice, remains at a high standard, and meets our professional body’s Fitness to Practice criteria. We often meet together, as a Practice, to muse ideas, share knowledge and further promote a healthy and supportive team spirit.

VICTORIA LATCHEM D.O.

I studied at the British School of Osteopathy in London, qualifying in 1986 ( feels like yesterday) and made a (permanent) return to Devon in 1992, and have happily worked in the South Hams ever since. Bidwell Cottage was extended in 2000 to give Bidwell Practice its permanent home. I love the range of treatment approaches that Osteopathy offers, having particular interest in working with longer standing, complex presentations, and supporting the extraordinary interlinked relationships of our emotions, mind and body.

I love to treat and support expectant mothers, their newborns and the whole family, as the little ones grow. I am still pursuing my interest in all aspects of the treatment and support of the performing voice. I feel very lucky to love what I do and am constantly amazed cat the extraordinary capacity for the body to repair and restore optimum health. Time away from Bidwell is spent outside in nature as much as possible; I love both Coastal and Moorland adventuring, (with family and friends) and am increasingly besotted with being in the home garden, and acquiring greener fingers.

Thomas Collender - MOst

I graduated from University College of Osteopathy (London) in 2020, gaining a Masters in Osteopathic Medicine with a distinction. I am a fully registered member of the General Osteopathic Council. I use a holistic approach to my work, encompassing all of the treatment disciplines within Osteopathy. I have developed a particular interest in the use of prescribed breath work, to enrich and maintain shorter term treatment gains, into the longer term. I spend as much time as I can outside in all elemental situations myself, so I can really enforce the benefits of being outdoors to my patients. I love tennis and play as regularly as I can, and therefore am very interested in helping any avenues of fitness preparation for all levels of the game, as well as having a special interest in musculoskeletal longevity within this wonderful sport. Love it. I have a growing love for carpentry and am loving making wooden spoons from every kind of wood.

Phil Waddell - BOst (Hons)

Phil graduated from the College of Osteopaths in 2013 and began his Osteopathic journey practicing in Birmingham, moving, with his family to Devon in 2014, where he joined Practices in Plympton, Torbay and Totnes.

Prior to undertaking his Osteopathic training Phil served as an officer in the British Army, spending time in all corners (of all continents) of the world. Phil has a structural and logical approach to the diagnosis and treatment plans for his patients. After years of pushing his own body through its limits Phil is passionate about helping others return to a level of lifestyle activity that allows them to thrive to the best of their abilities and wishes…..across the board from returning to everyday household tasks with confidence, restarting appropriate exercise activity, returning to the workplace after injury, competing in sports. Phil’s patients respond well to his down to earth and friendly approach to diagnosis and treatment and dedication to the requirements of their individual recovery journey.

Outside of Clinic, Phil is an avid, but relatively slow cyclist, enjoying competing in as many local events as he can, such as The Dartmoor Classic and is very pleased that he completed a solo JohnO’Groats to Lands End ride in 2021.
